hey im a 8th grader and i applied for perfoming arts school. i qualified for the academics part and now i have to go through an audition in 2 weeks. i picked my monolouge its from the effect of gamma rays on man in the moon marigolds and the character is ruth:
"Can you believe it? i didnt until chris burns came up and told me about it in geography and then mr.goodman told me himself during the eighth period in the office while i was eavesdropping. SceneMonolouge/audition help!!!?
its sounds like the character is really hyper and fun. You could run aroun the stage a lot. Just stay in constant motion, even if its just waving your hands or jumping up and down, and you should be fine!Monolouge/audition help!!!?
The important thing is to be incredibly excited. You should almost be out of breath at the start. I'd start "off-stage" (out of everyone's view) and run back and forth a couple of times, then come RUNNING in and start the delivery. THAT will make the entire monologue exciting, and everyone will be listening. (That's the whole key to a successful monologue! If no one is paying attention, you lose.)
Practice it that way too. You almost don't need to get every word exact, as long as the emotion of excitement is there.
When you get to the "sister" part you REALLY have to kick it up even more excited, like you're going to burst out of your skin!
Use the chair to grip onto it when your excited, as though it's the only thing keeping you from floating. (You're THAT excited.)

One summer I helped do casting for some independent movies, and the potential actors had to do a scene from the movie and also their own monologue on any topic as long as it was the character delivering it. The ones that really got into it with passion were the best. The ones that concentrated more on getting every word exact seemed phony. If you practice this enough, you'll have it down.
But like I said, get yourself almost out of breath before you start it, and everyone will be paying attention to your every single word.
Do that and I guarantee you'll ace it!

Why am I so inexplicably happy?
It all started two days ago with a guy who I know has a massive crush on me asking me to prom, even though I'm gay (which he should have realized by now. I haven't exactly been hiding it). I said no politely, and proceeded to text my friend Ruth all about it. We're close. We've known each other since we were about nine, but we only really got to see each other in the summer until we were 13, when we started seeing each other outside of summer camp. The joke going around camp was that we were dating, and we played along and acted like it.
You see, everyone on the camps has known each other for ages, so there is a natural kind of pair-bonding thing, where couples split off from the group either intentionally or by choice. Katie and Chris, Kate and Ben, Emily and Ben K, me and Ruth. And, as what probably happens at a lot of large gatherings of teenagers, there is kissing, groping and making out, either by choice or dare. For me and Ruth, kissing was predominantly by dare...except the biting. That was choice.
So, I asked Ruth to prom. And she said yes. I actually did a little twirl when she said yes. I hadn't realized how much I wanted her to say yes until she actually did. We're meeting up on Saturday. Even though she doesn't go to my school, I'm going to bring her to prom if it kills me. We've been texting and facebook-ing almost constantly since, and a lot of our texts are ending in 'xxx' or '鈾モ櫏鈾?#039;. Am I developing a little crush on Ruth?Why am I so inexplicably happy?

Not really. If you like it, you like it. I occasionally listen to music that I probably should be embarrassed about, but I'm not. I listen to We Are The World sometimes because it reminds me of being really little. If there was ever a song to be embarrassed about, that'd be it! There's nothing wrong with RATM and NIN has some really good instrumental stuff.
